A Really Bad Day

I was having one of those terrible, never ending, if it could go wrong day it would, and did. I thought work was never going to be done. I kept looking at the clock, greeting the patients, and answering every dental insurance question possible. Finally, I could go home. I get home and check my E-Mails and guess what? My really bad day went away! There was a e-mail from Linda, awarding The You Make My Day Award ! I tell you what she really made mine today. It could not have come at a better time. Thank You Linda, so very much.

I would like to pass this award on to Dena, she always makes my day too. A very good friend indeed.

I also want to pass it on to my best friend Connie,who with out her, I would not have so many great tales to tell.

My Space

I refinished that little book case today. I think it came out pretty nicely. I replaced the back of it with a piece of bead board left over from another project, and than I painted it to match the built- ins in the library. While taking a picture of it, I decided to show you My Space. The library is not the prettiest room in the house. But it is all mine. I keep all my finds here, like my clocks, my books of course, and little things till sale time. I read, watch T.V., and listen to my CDS. Every family member knows, no shoes lying around, you can eat and drink, but clear out your mess before I catch you. And when I need MY Space clear out. I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures.

Rainey Days and Mondays Always Make Me Sad

Rainey days and Mondays always make me sad. Except TODAY! Connie took off today from work and we headed out to a Sales by Helen. The weather was so bad that all the schools here either, had a two hour delay or were cancelled. Well we thought about being safe and not going out, but, what idiots would go sailing on a day like today. OK US!! It took almost an hour to get to Helen's but was it worth it. We were not the only idiots out, but luckily alot stayed home. Did very well indeed. I found a cute little bookcase that needs some work, a wonderful koko clock, some Christmas items, and a few pieces of linen.

Well we thought we were done untill, we found a Goodwill, and nothing there. Now we are done. OK, not quite, on the way home we got detoured because of an accident and found another Goodwill. Hurray!! We did very well at that one. I picked up an old punch bowl trey in sandwitch glass and an old library card file. On the way out the door Connie and I saw this marble top coffee table. I wanted the legs, she wanted the marble, so we bought it. She will share what she is going to do with the marble on her blog. I made candle stick holders out of the legs. Came out pretty nice.

A Great Day

Connie and I headed out early on Saturday morning. Our own houses needed to be cleaned, laundry piled by the washing machine, threatening to come down the hallway. And enough dirty dishes in the sink, that somehow never made it to the EMPTY dishwasher. But ten estate sales from here to the Main Line of Philly were calling us. We could here the whisper in the wind. Donnnnna, Connnnnie, come see the finds that are waiting for youuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Ok, Enough drama, we had a great day. Not as good as some in the past but better then we expected. It was down right cold to. I found a box of cast iron keys. Still had the price tags hanging from them. No clue what I am going to do with 20 of them. But one never knows what project might require them. The lady said she was going to make a border around her kitchen with them. But, never got around to it.

At one sale I found a little wall table, I had to refinish the top, but it is cute. The owner of that home is in jail and the girlfriend was selling everything. And just about giving it all away.

On the way home we stopped by Salvation Army and I picked up a wonderful art deco mirror in really nice condition. I decided that I am going to keep that, and hung it in the powder room. I have a collection of old mirror frames that hang in there. So it was right at home. At the thrift store I also found a toy chest for my dental office, I am now painting it black.

And the finished toy chest. Came out great. Although Walmart must think I inhale spray paint, because I am always in there buying it. But you can't beat .88 $ a can, and I am always spray painting something.

Who Would Have Thought ?

First, I want to Thank everyone who left a comment about the dish rack. The prototype is almost complete and I will be sharing with you when it is done.

Second, I must Thank Lee for the beautiful ornament she made for me. It is so pretty I decided to leave it out all winter in my dining room.


Third, look what I found today, by accident. I had to run some errands up in Delaware County, and came across a moving sale. I was a little late, but still scored some good finds. Who would have thought?

"Trippin " at Old Stone Eclectiques

Welcome to the first " Trippin with Antekin " in beautiful Chester County PA.
Today I visited my friend June, who just opened her antique store in Kennett Sq. So happy you could come " Trippin " with me . I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Because of some technical problems, like it took me all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night to figure how to put this on my blog, because of size?
You get to watch in three sections. But I promise, it is worth it. I won't even get into the computor editting part. Where are your kids when you need them?So are you having a good time? June's shop is very inviting. She has started a blog also. I will be helping her with it when I can. Please stop by and visit with her. Question, Please Answer

OK so here it goes, How do you dry your pots, pans, wine glasses, etc. that you do not want in the dish washer? Either for taking up room space or for delicate purposes. I know there are drying racks out there. But..... They never seem to be big enough or user friendly enough. I am asking because I am having one of my crazy ideas that need much thought and trial and error before I proceed.

P.S. I really need everyone's thought on this. So please leave a comment even if you normally do not. Thanks, Dona. I have a prototype in the works and it would be super cool to know how you all deal with this. As you can see I use a towel, only thing big enough.

How To Make Candlestick Holders

I have had a couple of e-mails on how I made the candle stick holders featured in my library. OK here it is, please do not laugh. I used cheap really cheap candle stick holders in crystal from Walmart. Two pairs . The top pair that hold the votive must be turned upside down and the opening large enough to hold a votive candle. The bottom crystal candle sticks must be large enough to hold the cast iron lamp bases.The lamp bases are painted with black and than gold spray paint. Use a heavy duty clear drying glue to afix the lamp bases to the bottom set of candle sticks. When dry afix the top candle sticks upside down to the lamp base. Allow to dry. I added hanging mother of pearl tear drops found at a yardsale for $1. You could use crystal drops, etc. Place your votive candle in place. Light and enjoy.

Had To Share

I normally do not post twice in one weekend, But.... I had to share with you the out come of the lamps bought yesterday. A few years back I found this really pretty lamp and put it in my library. Yesterday I was thrilled when I found the pair that matched it. Although I did not like the look of them a little tired. A can of black and a can of gold spray paint, two new lamp shades and a little bit of baking soda to clean the china parts and I'm in love. So it may take a little while but good things do happen.

On The Road Again

Oh it feels so good to be on the road again. Connie and I left bright and early this morning. Three Estate Sales Oh Yah!! We did very well in deed. Picked up a hand made room size rug in wool. The lady said her mother had paid $700. I will not tell you what I paid but it wasn't even close to a $20.
Also a pretty little watch made by Heidi Daus. The wrought iron will be great in the garden or maybe I'll sell it. The lamps need to be cleaned up. Then we'll go from there.

P.S. Connie left some cool finds in my car. Do you think I should keep them? Nah, But I tried!
